Below are the Design Principles for our Dental Practice Teambuilding “Tasks”  - ALL original - and ALL created by Impetus

  • tasks are chosen by team members from a "shortlist" which contribute to the course objectives and priorities as agreed with management

We have a vast library, built up over the years, of Tasks and activities for practices to choose from - AND we don't just take them

"off the shelf" - we adapt them to the needs and wishes of each team.  (See illustrations of team members in action all over this site)

team members CHOOSE the exercises / teamwork tasks they know they will ENJOY

Allsopp & Ass, Walsall, on a Treasure Hunt

Included in the price of all Teambuilding events is is a visit to the practice by Rick or Cheryl to consult with as many team members as possible

on the type of activity they would enjoy AND on practice issuues they believe are worth discussing on their day. An ulterior motive for

these consultations is to ensure team members all LOOK FORWARD to THEIR day (rather than being "sent" on a course !!!)

  • the selection has to be unanimous - no task is included unless everyone wants to do it

  • we strongly believe that "delegates learn by enjoying themselves"

  • tasks contribute, along with lectures, discussions etc, to achieving objectives

  • so they are designed to take from 30 minutes to 2 hours, with 3 or 4 in a typical day

  • there can be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, as the team wishes (and venue/time of year!)

  • serious discussions - egs, on A Little Book of Epigrams are positioned as Tasks (in teams)

  • team members use and practise skills identified as most relevant, egs Listening, Assertiveness

  • all tasks aim to simulate "real life" - eg a time constraint

  • debriefs are in two parts: analysis of the dynamics and individual performance using our unique “Teamwork Skills and Behaviour Checklist” followed by relating what happened (in the Task) to "real life", eg difficult patients! or a need to listen effectively!
